Kaishaku.ch opens with one picture: a disc, cut once. This week we drew it again, using only characters.
It is 80 columns wide, the width of an old PC text screen, and it uses the 16 colours those screens had. The left half is shaded with three characters from the original IBM PC character set: ░, ▒ and ▓. Each one mixes two colours in a different amount. The round edge uses the half blocks ▀ and ▄, so the curve is twice as smooth as whole characters allow.
The right half is made of words. Across the amber cut, the disc you can hold becomes code you can read.
To see it in a terminal, download the .ans file and run cat 001-the-cut.ans. The DOS file uses the original PC character set and opens in ANSI art viewers.
